Puente Responds to 5th Circuit Decision on DACA/DAPA
‘The President Now Has More Reasons to Do More to Stop Deportations’
Phoenix, AZ—In response to today’s 5th circuit ruling upholding the injunction against DACA and DAPA, Carlos Garcia of Puente says, “Ever since President announced the expansion of deferred action, instead of promised relief, all we have gotten is more deportations. The Obama administration always has and still has the power to act to stop the daily terrorizing of our community and neighborhoods, to release our loved ones from detention, and stop separating our families. The crisis our community faces continues and the President has the power to stop it today. With the absence of national relief, we need to take the fight to protect our communities locally, including to get ICE out of local jails and stop racial profilers like Arpaio and the Phoenix Police.”
Interviews available upon request, including with community members who would and wouldn’t qualify for deferred action.
